The event took place on Saturday 17 September on Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside,

The BUPA Mini Great North Run covers a distance of 1.5km and is suitable for children aged 3 – 8 years
and the BUPA Junior Great North Run is for youngsters aged 9 – 16 years
following a 4 km route with a separate boys and girls race.
The junior route is an officially measured 4 km course to UKA accuracy standards.
It is also licenced and approved to take place under the UKA rules for competition.
Callum Mackinlay and Jake Ward are class mates at
Barley Fields Junior School
Ingelby Barwick Stockton-on-Tees
Both aged nine and mad on sport and both play football for 'TIBS' the local Soccer Academy.
Callum has been brought up with the Coldstream Guards
and a great supporter of the 'Tommy Leech appeal.
Their enthusiasm was evident during the run and also in the actual fund raising.
The final figures has not been declared but we
are sure it will be a substantial sum.
This is just a start and they are determined to progress the cause in the future.
A wonderful effort from two brilliant young men.
