In
1949 Eric Gulston commanded a small reconnaissance patrol of five Coldstream Guardsmen,
who encountered an enemy patrol far larger than itself.
Out numbered and out
gunned, Eric led his team in a game of cat and mouse with the enemy through the
jungle.
This short patrol that was to last for several hours ended up lasting
seven days.
Cut off, without food and water and coming down with Malaria,
Eric led his team through the jungle alive and safe, several enemy CT were killed.
He was awarded the Military Medal in 1950 for 'BRAVERY IN THE FIELD'.

This project was birthed out of attending one of Reg Counsell's
Malaya Reunions and the enthusiastic veterans that were keen to go on camera and
tell me their experiences.
Keep talking guys whatever you do, keep telling
your stories.
After that it was a long process of development.
When I contacted
Simon Tierney from the Far Setting Sun Far East Living History Group it started
to get exciting and realized why this campaign was named,
THE
FORGOTTEN WAR
That's when the possibility of getting to work with re-enactors
had dawned.
Now I was about to find out if I was to be any good at making
films.
Actor's vs Re-enactors: It's hard to say who's the best, but they all
did a great job and all good to work with.
The filming in Thetford was a really
great time and I would like to thank everyone for making it so enjoyable.
