In May this year Coldstreamer Frank Watson and a works colleague
Tim McKeegan will cycle from Lands End to John O Groats.
They work for a company called Autoglass® and are visiting branches along the route to drum up support and of course extra donations.
They are also planning smaller events before they go, again to raise even more money.
The ride will be raise money for three charities.
Autoglass has its own charity “Ma Afrika Tikkun”
Frank's colleague Tim has nominated his charity “Road Victims Trust”
which is a local charity based in Bedford.
Tim had a brother tragically killed last year in a road traffic accident. .
As an former Coldstream Guardsman Frank has chosen 'Coldstreamkids'
as his Charity.
All funds raised will be split three ways.
Frank found out about Coldstream Kids charity through coldstreamers.co.uk the most popular of Coldstream Guards Sites and uses the site most days.
It would be great to get some publicity through this Site and its contacts,
plus the 'Coldstreamers Forum' again to drum up support and raise further funds
. They are well into the planning stage and their first scheduled event takes place at the Bedford Rugby Club
“Your chance to punch a world champion”
Another works colleague, is a 'World Champion Kick Boxer' and has kindly agreed to go in the ring with as many people as are prepared to pay.
All Coldstreamers would be more that welcome at this event.
There is also a further event planned in Warrington where there is a rest day planned on Sunday 17th May.
A web site has been set up so people can track the progress of Funds raised,
as well as up to date location, via the GPS Trackers fitted to the bikes.
It is planned to have the local radio involved.
This is the first event of this magnitude that Frank has organized and would be very grateful for any help that could be offered either in donations or logistics.
Originally the Fundraising Target was set at £5000, but in the light of the huge amount of effort and interest this he now been set at £10,000.
